I Got a Bee in My Bonnet

My mind is forever thinking of new projects that I want to do. Sometimes the ideas get to "buzzin" around so fast that I feel like I have bees swarming around in my head. This saying actually came from my grandmother. She used to say, when she had an idea about how to do something, "I got a bee in my bonnet and I couldn't rest until I got it out." So, when I think of something new I want to do, I can't rest until I get that bee out of my bonnet. Ü

Bathroom Makeover...

I have been "gathering" things for months to use for a makeover of Norman's/the guest bathroom.  My tastes have changed and to say it was a little outdated with it's  "country" motif with sunflowers and green checked shower curtain that I made probably 8-10 years ago is an understatement.  Norman has never really said anything about it, but I thought it was time to give him a more manly looking bathroom.  So, with all my items bought (or most all of them) I decided that Father's Day weekend would be a good time to tackle this task.  And what better Father's Day gift to give Norman.
I took all the old stuff out and started the taping.  Then I enlisted Norman to help with the painting because painting is just not my thing.  I usually get more on me than I do on the walls.

Before long he had the whole room painted and ready for me to begin adding all the new items I had gathered.

This is the way it looked after I got some of the new items in place. Once I got all the other items added I decided that the old ratty looking stained oak vanity needed a face-lift as well.  So, I headed back to Walmart to by more paint and then to Hobby Lobby to get a few other doodads to give it that rich new look that I was going for.
The neat thing about this make over is that all the items except three of the pictures and the few things I got at Hobby Lobby all came from Walmart which helped to keep the cost down.

The two plaques on the left, as well as the one above the towel rack near the sink, were hand-me-downs from Andrea.  The colors in each worked perfectly with the colors of the new things I am using.

This is the vanity after I painted it.  I think it looks pretty good!
(Jacye wanted to get in on the pictures.  LOL)

The shelf with all the new items from Hobby Lobby and the plaque with the scripture verse, "Be still and know that I am God."  I figure with all the job stress Norman is under he needs to focus on that verse as he gets ready each day for work.

And here is the finished room.  I really like it.  It is more "manly" looking but yet still has female appeal. Next project...my Mother's bathroom.  I have already purchased the new stuff and I am just waiting for some free time to get down to El Dorado to do it for her!
